The day of the Romanian village

The city of Brasov hosted the "Day of the Romanian village" during May 11th-13th 2012 in Piata Sfatului (the Old City Hall Square). The event was organized by the Association "The most beautiful villages of Romania".
The Day of the Romanian village is a national celebration day, an example of the appreciation for the traditional rural values. For three days, the Romanian village is put first through a series of initiatives, programs and festivals attracting the public`s attention.

I dance for Romania

Visitors could admire the traditional costumes specific to each area, folklore shows, workshops for little artisans and have a rural lunch within the festival called "The most Beautiful Villages from Romania". The attraction of the moment was the folk dance competition "I dance for Romania".
Another attraction for tourists was the Rural Tourism, Agrotourism and Ecotourism Fair - "Come to the Romanian villages". A series of accommodation offers were presented in this event, as well as special programs from A.N.T.R.E.C. (the National Association for Rural, Ecologic and Cultural Tourism) branches. Rural destinations where the tourist may interact with the life of the village in its purest form such as local traditions and values, the wonderful food from farmers' houses, far from any sign of urbanisation, were introduced and promoted, as well.

Manufactured in the Romanian village

The visitors have the opportunity to admire and buy products resulted from the skilfulness of the artisans and various craftsmen at the Fair of traditional products called "Manufactured in the Romanian village". Other fairs: the "Agriculture Fair ? In Ion's Garden", the "Animals' Farm and an exhibition of Romanian seeds and breeds".
Conferences and seminars on the preservation, promotion and development of the Romanian village were also organized at ARO Palace Hotel from Brasov. The main subject of the national conference was the "Development perspectives of rural tourism and agrotourism in Romania". The host of the event was Mr. Marghiol Nicolae, President of the Association "The most beautiful villages of Romania".

The agenda of the conference

We would like to emphasize, from the agenda of the conference, the presentation of the Traditional Event Calendar (Collaboration protocol between A.N.T.R.E.C. Romania, the Association "The most beautiful villages of Romania" and the Ministry for Regional Development and Tourism). Maria Stoian, founding member of A.N.T.R.E.C. took the floor, by exemplifying the importance of this collaboration for the development of the Romanian rural tourism image.
