The Romanians? Festival in Nürnberg takes place in two periods of the year: on Christmas, when there are inter-cultural exchanges between Romanians and the Transylvanian Saxons settled in Germany and on June 28th-29th, during the show organized in the Historic Centre of the German Town. A delegation of the County Board left Brasov on Christmas, at the invitation of the Mayor from Nürnberg. The organiser of the meeting was Romanima Association which took care of the ?Little House from Brasov? arrangement. This is where area specific products were exhibited such as: icons, textiles, sculptures, Romanian folk costumes and other traditional products.
The history of Christkindlesmarkt
"Nürnberger Christkindlesmarkt" is a Christmas market organised every year in the old town of Nuremberg. Nearly two million people visit "Nürnberger Christkindlesmarkt" every year, one of the biggest of this kind in Germany and one of the most famous worldwide. The oldest known proof is a coniferous wooden box dating back in 1628. The box is currently preserved in the National Museum from Nürnberg. For more than 400 years, the most beautiful Christmas show in the entire world has been organised in the town centre in December. The famous Christkindlesmarkt seduces not only by its wooden houses where one can taste traditional food and drinks or by the little presents and Christmas decorations, but also by the show performed by children, in front of the church from the only urban square of the town?, said Mrs. Mariana Alexie, from Romanima Association.
Christmas markets
?The cultural relations with town Nürnberg will extend, and Christkindlesmarkt Market is a great opportunity for promoting the town of Brasov. The history of Christmas markets is interesting: a Christmas market, also known as Christkindlmarkt, Christkindlesmarkt, Christk'mdlmarket and Weihnachtsmarkt is a market associated with the Christmas celebration especially during the four weeks before the Christmas day. These markets originated in Germany and Austria, but now they are organised in many other countries. The history of Christmas markets dates back in the Middle Ages. The first ones appeared in Germany and then they spread all over Europe. We are glad we were able to organise the first Christmas and New Year Market in Brasov this winter, at the same time with the Christmas Market from Nürnberg, following the same pattern?, said Mr. Dragoş Crăciun, head of the delegation from Brasov.
