The President of the County Council Brasov, Mr. Aristotel Căncescu, requested a research on the cultural tourism development in Brasov county, which was carried out by E-Cultura Spanish Organization. The purpose was to promote the paradores tourism in our county and it contains all tourist objectives from Brasov county. All Saxon fortresses make the object of this research, the project being a complex one. The amount of funds to be attracted reaches Euro 80 million. It has been a year since this project begun and it refers to the needs for tourism development and promotion in the county of Brasov.
Brasov, a key destination
E-Cultura representative wanted to thank all those who worked at this research and reminded that Brasov is already considered a famous tourist destination, its main attractions being the landscape and winter sports. ?As you already know, Brasov has an extraordinary potential and if this entire heritage were turned into good account Brasov would become a key destination for cultural tourism. With the purpose to make an action plan and an inventory of the tangible and intangible heritage from the county, we found out that there were 150 tangible and 75 intangible objectives, more than enough to transform Brasov into a cultural key destination. The action plan is made on three terms: short, average and long. We shall take actions to improve the management of this type of tourism?, said Mr. Jose Maria Jimeno, E-Cultura Manager.
Rehabilitation of cultural monuments
This research considers the rehabilitation of certain cultural monuments which include the Fortress from Fagaras as a priority on average and long term basis. In the same way the Fortress from Rupea could become a cultural center reuniting the region?s ethnic groups: Romanian, Hungarian, German and Romani, to which a centre for tourist reception could be added offering information for different destinations.
In the county of Brasov the cultural tourism is an alternative to economic development.
Modern culture
Besides the historic-cultural heritage, the main focus will remain the modern culture whose value should be capitalized because Brasov can be considered as the meeting place of several cultures and ethnic groups. The heritage diversity should also be considered an attraction because not many countries can enjoy it. Through this action plan the intention is to transform Brasov into a cultural tourist destination by taking into account the area?s diversity.
?The project is an extremely complex plan and we made sure that all forms of tourism were explored. We took into account the history?s traces, Brasov as the Gate of Transylvania, the heart of Romania and the fact that Brasov is the most important tourist area of the country. Tourists must understand that this is a place where history can be found. One part of history that should not be forgotten is the industry?s history?, said Pilar Espeso.
The National Museum of Industries
Both the Spanish people and the President of the County Council Brasov, Mr. Aristotel Căncescu, sustained the idea that Brasov was the perfect place for the National Museum of Industries. In the locations where industrial giants operated once there are culture generating spaces. A new architecture can be created there, with spaces that account for the industry in Brasov, merging the past with the present. The modern architecture is an attraction for many tourists. The value of these spaces could be enhanced for the museum, and also for new jobs, souvenir workshops as an additional source of income.
