Cristian commune, bordering Brasov town, is located on the way connecting Brasov and Bran Castle. The children of Cristian initiated a project called ?Cristian, past and future? and participated at an exhibition gathering youths from all over the county.
Map made by Children
The project initiated by the children, with the support of the local community and the town hall, started in 2006 and is intended to promote the commune?s image and create a map of the most interesting locations of Cristian. As mayor Serafim Dragos stated, ?the activities are intended to research and recreate the local history, the local cultural personalities, the closeness to the minorities, the discovering and the conservation of the nature?.
The secular Oaks
Besides the map, the pupils also created a DVD and a CD, they will mark the touring courses leading to the Glade, the secular oaks and touring interest areas of the commune. The secular oaks, declared monuments of the nature, are one of the major attractions of Cristian. As the environmental issue became vital in our century, the school and the local public administration intend to educate the young generation in the spirit of respect and protect the environment. Another goal is to ecologize, conserve and popularize the area.
History Panel
After a detailed research work on the field and a lot of photos, the pupils, supported by their teachers, created the touring map of the commune, valorising all the data gathered during the other activities and using specific symbols and appropriate colours.
They also realized a panel surprising the old and present Cristian, containing relevant photos maid years ago and today, the help the tourists to understand the changes that left their mark on the commune.
