The event, arrived at its 7th edition, was meant to promote the area?s potential and reinvigorate the traditions.
The County Council, the County Centre for Promoting and Conserving the Traditional Culture Brasov, along with the local authorities of Vama Buzaului took on stage famous folkloric soloist. The musical display was preceded by an exhibition of animals, fishing and wood cutting contests.
Breeders and Wood-cutters
As mayor Tiberiu Nicolae Chirilas stated, the most skilled lumbermen of the area competed in cutting the wood and handling the saw. ?The contest already became a tradition and it?s a manful contention. The wood they cut is used to manufacture furniture. The fishing contest has also its supporters and rivals, while the breeders were very proud to show their horses and cows. The winners got money and forage for the animals?.
The Sheepfold Masters
Another attraction of the feast was the contest of sheepfolds owners of the surroundings. Nine folds masters gathered and exhibited their various kind of cheese. The participants had the opportunity to taste the natural products made in the fold, in the same way the ancestors used to prepare them hundred of years ago.
The event also gathered the mayors of the area?s communes and the several politicians in the Parliament. All of them decided to unfold common projects to promote the traditions and the touring and historical potential of the area.
