Historical reconstruction camp

Brasov History Museum is organizing in 2018 the 2nd edition of the Historical Reconstruction International Festival, with the subject the First World War Armistice Centenary. It is a living history type cultural product allowing the inhabitants of Brasov and tourists to understand the meaning of the First World War Armistice in a cultural-educative way. It includes a historical reconstruction camp, workshops and interactive installations for children, an outdoor exhibition and an artistic program inspired by the festival theme.
Historical photography exhibition
Two historical subjects related to the end of the First World War were presented on 40 boards, an international and a local theme, presented on an exhibition system with its own lighting system located in front of the History Museum of Brasov County. The inhabitants and the guests of Brasov could enjoy a historical reconstruction with a photo studio and a post office with historical postcards.
Raising public awareness
‘The general objective of the Historical Reconstruction International Festival from Brasov is to raise the awareness of children, local public and tourists on the meaning of the First World War Armistice and inter-war period in the local, national and European history. Starting with 2014, a circuit of the historical reconstruction events dedicated to the First World War was put into place at European level’ declared Nicolae Pepene, Manager of Brasov History Museum.
The military camp in Piata Sfatului
The main even of the festival was the military camp in Piata Sfatului where weaponry and military uniforms specific to the First World War were presented – the moment of the armistice in November 11th 1918, barrack room life scenes, the battlefield magazine, battlefield training scenes and other activities specific to the historical reconstruction. Historical reconstruction associations from Romania, France, England, Bulgaria and the Czech Republic confirmed their participation in this event.
