Knitted toys

Artist Gabriela Bularca is knitting in her workshop, where she makes fully handmade toys: head, body, wings, tail, legs, and pecker. Romanian natural fibres are used, respectively washed, spun and twisted wool yarn. In the workshops organized within craftsmen fairs, the artist makes real work demonstrations: filling and shaping the toy with combed wool or melana (synthetic textile fibre similar to wool) and toy assembling. It is the ambassador of knitting history from our places.

The creation workshop

The toys knitted by Gabriela Bularca have a unique design, they are brightly coloured and make us feel like playing with them; they are simple, funny and unusual. Each and every one has a name, mouse Emil, chicken Franco, ladybug Ingrid and a story. All the toys carry a part of the artist?s soul, and the children participating in the creation workshop develop their intelligence and creativity. Hundreds of children attended up to now a toy manufacturing course: mice, chicken, owls and all types of handicraft items, they learned how to handle the crochet and, in the end, make their own toys.

Braiding art

The artist from Brasov presents the art of natural fibre braiding and the tools that are used for this purpose: ?Knitting, an old and beautiful custom, was used to adorn the things in the house or the clothes worn by our ancestors. We should not forget that this old craft is also used for the beautiful ie (the Romanian traditional woman blouse). The Romanian ii, carefully and skilfully hand-made, are also adorned by the crochet. This has its own history and story. The story is discovered by children in the workshops because we speak about the history of the crochet on our lands.?

School and creativity

School workshops children attend are an alternative to the computer. Because the workshops organized by Gabriela Bularca are extremely attractive, more and more children and young people enrol in knitting courses. ?We have many crochets, we have yarns and we can guarantee for the joy. Depending on the skills of the participants we will make various objects, toys, bracelets, braids, belts, flowers for all tastes and ages?,, declared the artist.
