Feldioara Citadel, on the tourism map of the country

In September 2017, Feldioara Citadel, Brasov County, shall re-enter the touristic circuit. Following the restoration works that started in 2012, intensive work has been done ever since. There were only a few stone walls left from the citadel, and those were also torn down; the interior yard was filled with weeds, spring woods, shrubs, trees and lots of holes. The land was stripped, measurements were done, archaeologists and specialists in wall restoration and rehabilitation were consulted. Projects were drafted, money was obtained and the works started. And now, a historical attraction of rare beauty shines in all its greatness, after being restored.
Five years later
?Here it is, five years later, it is almost ready, the hardest works were done, there are only a few small works left to be done. You can see what it has been done and how it looks now. It was difficult, but it was worth it. We started back in 2012, by designing works, feasibility studies, work execution, and everything else. Here we are, five years later. Look what we have accomplished. It brings me a lot of joy. Some cannot build a house in five years and we managed to restore a whole citadel, and this after investing first of all a lot of passion, gave it a lot of thought, and then started working. We will definitely have it ready by September?, told us Mr. Sorin Taus, Mayor of Feldioara.
Re-entering the touristic circuit
The Town Hall and the Local Council of Feldioara made all the efforts for this gorgeous citadel to re-enter the touristic circuit and to be included on the tourist map of the country, next to the other tourist attractions of Feldioara: The Evangelical Church of Rotbav, The Evangelical Church of Feldioara, the Orthodox Churches, the Monument of the Transylvanian Saxon Students, and others, all of them with heritage value.
The Citadel of Feldioara was built in the 13th century, being the most important fortification built by the Teutonic Knights in Transylvania.
