Feldioara, an impressive history

Feldioara commune, Brasov County has an impressive history filled with stories, customs and traditions. Thus, it is difficult to tell when the story of this commune started for the simple fact that times were ruthless and ruined even stoned buildings. Nevertheless, Feldioara shows that the story can still be continued. Beyond any doubt the Teuton people and the Cistercians passing through enriched this settlement.
The story of Feldioara
"Without a story it is almost unimaginable that someone would ever stay still on the main street, looking at the sky to see how much truth there is in the stories telling that Feldioara is the only settlement from Tara Barsei where the ones building the big alley placed it across the sunshiny road on the sky. Or who can ever doubt by the fact that Feldioara was named a town, if the story did not tell it and if the history did not prove it. Some are still wondering why the bells of the Evangelical Church from Rotbav and Feldioara announce an event", said Mr. Sorin Taus, the Mayor of Feldioara.
Medieval festivities
Nowadays, the Town Hall of Feldioara has a vast cultural agenda, the most important being "Feldioara?s Days" a real holiday of folklore combined with a medieval festivity, event that brings up-to-date fragments from the ancient history of Feldioara. Everything is a tremendous show, starting from the horse parade and horsemen looking like they?re from another time, to the fighting demonstrations and hand-made items stands. A lot of tourists from all over the world come to attend this show and to enjoy "Feldioara?s Days" alongside with the locals.
Customs and traditions
Local people put on their traditional clothing and take the opportunity of celebrating the days of the commune to show off their beautiful traditional clothing, irrespectively if the clothing belongs to Romanians, Transylvanian Saxons or Hungarian people. They are competing in beauty and they are customized. Fortunately, a reviving of customs and traditions can be noticed during the past few years, due to the fact that the Town Hall, the school and the church get involved in developing projects for promoting the cultural heritage of Feldioara.
