The Town Hall and the Local Council from Codlea grant important funds for the promotion of the cultural-tourist potential in this town. During summer, the cultural events attract tourists like a magnet. This happens because of the cultural events organized locally, but also due to the cultural events in which the folk group "Magura Codlei" participate abroad for the purpose to promote this precious legacy. Among the events during summer we mention two which emphasize the customs and traditions of the area: the Days of Codlea ? "Kronenfest" and the participation of the folk group "Magura Codlei" in the Festival ,,Ottobrunn Cultural Summer" in Germany.
Promotion of the tourist potential
"The cultural activity in town Codlea has now become a tradition, but, nevertheless, I wish we can improve the cultural act, diversify it and make it an interest for tourists. Making the best of the cultural-historical potential is a good opportunity to make people know us in the country and abroad. The traditions and the customs of the area contribute to the increase of the tourist attractiveness. Codlea is located on the cultural road connecting the Capital with Sibiu, the first European capital of the country. Those who stop here may take advantage of an unique cultural offer, with moments capitalizing the customs and traditions through folk group "Magura Codlei", and moments full of history in the Citadel Codlea, making up one of the 12 settlements of Transylvanian Saxons from Tara Barsei," said Mr. Catalin Munteanu, the Mayor of Codlea.
Cultural moments in Ottobrunn
To promote the tourist potential abroad, the folk group "Magura Codlei" answered the invitation and participated in the Festival ,,Cultural Summer in Ottobrunn" in Germany. The journey to Ottobrunn, a town next to Munich, lasted 22 hours. At the festival, the members of the folk group impressed the audience with their show. The Transylvanian Saxons and the Romanians settled in Germany wished to live the cultural moments from their country again. They declared they could have listened endlessly to the sound of the panpipe, saxophone, accordion and guitars of artists from the folk group "Magura".
The Mayor Catalin Munteanu appointed Corina Nica, local counsellor, from the Culture Commission, to accompany the folk group "Magura" (35 young people) and a family of Transylvanian Saxons from Codlea, Kauntz Volkmar, at the Festival ,,Cultural Summer in Ottobrunn".
Covering kilometres in musical notes
"I can say the kilometres separating Codlea from Ottobrunn measured in musical notes made a journey which is worth a festival. For the folk group "Magura" Codlea, the cultural summer means an experience exchange with professionals from the school of music and ballet Ottobrunn, but also an unforgettable 10-day journey in Germany, where the hosts welcomed us warmly," said the head of the Town Culture House Codlea, Mr. Petrică Buhnici.
