The ?Sweet Apple? Holiday

In October, in the city of Codlea the second edition of the ?Sweet Apple? Autumn Holiday took place, on the historical center promenade. Several cultural events, a craftsmen fair, an exhibition with fall products and grapes must tasting have been organized.
On a splendid autumn day the town, as an initiator of multiculuturalism, gathered along Romanians, Hungarians, German and Romani.
The story of the apple
In Codlea there is a legend about the apple orchard on the outskirts of town where young lovers came to take a walk. Though there were wild apples, that are very sour, the lovers sweetened them with their kisses. This way the sour apples became sweet and so the story remained until nowadays.
?It is a sweet fall holiday such as all the earth?s fruits are. We are happy that we can support this event which has become a holiday for all the locals. Even if there is a crisis period going on, the City Hall and the Local Council have made an effort and allotted funds to keep celebrating the ?Sweet Apple? Autumn Holiday. We are very thrilled of its success,? says the Mayor of Codlea, Mr. Alexandru Popa
Artists from Codlea
At this event many talented local artists, from pre-school children to folk and artistic groups, performed on the special stage arranged near the fortress. Besides the folk group ?Magura Codlei? which celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2009 and performed on the biggest stages of the world, the break-dance, street-dance and modern dance groups keep up the pace, succeeding to obtain national prizes, though at the beginning of their activity.
Hora Simpla (The Simple Round Dance)
The delight of the event was the show offered by A level kindergarten children group ?Hora Simpla? who performed an exceptional folk show together with the C level children group ?Hora Junilor? and the B level children group ?Maruntele fagarasene?, the beginner group of children ?Suita ardeleneasca?, the B level children group ?Ciobanas Breaza?, the beginner group of children ?Hodoroaga Brau de Fagaraş". The show also included performances of the folk music band ?Magura" and the vocal group ?Inflorita Rugutu", female singers Darie Oana and Ticusan Mădălina, Agache Andreea, Neacsu Andreia, Lazar Corina, Cretu Roxana, Lucaci Elena, Iorca Petronela, and male singers Macovei Răzvan, Neacsu George, Micutiu Raul.?
Mr. Petrica Buhnici, Manager of the Cultural House of Codlea said that the autumn holidays end when the Christmas fasting period begins and after that there will be a series of events celebrating Christ?s Birth and the New Year?s Eve with carol singers and groups of young lads.
