The ?Snow Flake? Festival
The national light song festival contest for children ?SNOW FLAKE? is now already a famous festival which intends to discover new talents and stimulate them in performing Romanian light music, as well as to discover young composers of first audition songs. Now at its fourth edition, the festival is a way for talented children to become famous and known. According to its name, the event is a happy moment for talented children to be rewarded just before the winter holidays.
The Festival is organised by the County Council of Brasov, the County Center for the Preservation and Promotion of Traditional Culture of Brasov, the Cultural Association ?Viva la Musica? and the Cultural Center ?Reduta?. ?We are glad that we can host in Brasov a national festival dedicated to children from all over Romania who have the chance to meet local children. Besides, our festival is the one who made Sabrina Stroe famous, the little girl who represented Romania at the Eurovision Song Contest for Children. Each year we make efforts to set this event?s sights as high as possible,? said Mrs. Claudia Miritescu, Manager of the Festival.
First audition songs
The Festival is structured on sections and age categories and includes a creativity section and the awards ceremony. The contest evolution is according to the materials provided by the competitors and only FIRST AUDITION songs which comply with the children repertoire can be performed. The contestants should be 6-18 years old. There is no age limit for composers/lyricists. One song only per composer/lyricist is allowed. These section songs can not be used in the performance section. The contestants must have the permission of the composer/lyricist to sing a song in the contest. Those songs which shall be proven (by means of audio, video, written support) not to be in first audition, shall be disqualified. No vocal groups are allowed in the contest.
Each section/age category is awarded a prize: 1st prize, 2nd prize and 3rd prize and the SNOW FLAKE Trophy which is awarded to one single contestant, irrespective of the age category, for best performance. For the creativity section, children receive a prize and a composer/lyricist diploma. This is why all contestants are awarded 2 mention prizes / section / age category and participation diplomas. Besides these, there are also the special prizes: ?Viva la Musica? prize, ?Serban Georgescu? prize, the jury?s prize, top performer prize, ?TVS? prize.
