Zizin village recently hosted "Dragobete’s Ball", a traditional union of love and spring. The event was organized by the Council for the Conservation and Promotion of Traditional Culture Brasov, in collaboration with Tarlungeni town hall and Zizin school. The pure love of the youngsters is associated with the peep and the mating ceremonial of the forest birds; their patron is a mythical representation, "Dragobete» or "Spring Head", celebrated on February 24.
Ritualistic Escape
According to the popular tradition, at Dragobete, the girls and the boys used to go out in the woods, singing and laughing, to glean the first flowers of spring. Like the birds, the girls romp in a ritualistic escape that ends with the boys kissing them. The boys also hung swings in the tree branches; lovers say nice words, kiss each other and make love vows.
Zizin's Ambassadors
As mayor Kiss Iosif stated, Tarlungeni town hall always gets involved in the promotion of the traditions and customs of the area, as a sign of the intercultural relationships between the inhabitants. The Association „Zizin’s Ambassadors" invites you to Tarlungeni, Zizin and Purcareni whenever there is a cultural event, with the belief that if you attend it once, you'll certainly wish to return.
