The commune Dragus is a newly established administrative-territorial unit, located at the foot of a hill, as many other localities of Tara Fagarasului. Its location at 5 km from a European road and the railway makes it accessible for all those who want to discover o reach history and many traditions such as ?The Wood?s Vow?, ?The Youths Flock?, the encounter with the local natives, ?Dragus?s Days? and many other cultural manifestations promoting the traditional Romanian costumes and habits.
Tradition and Innovation
According to the mayor Vasile Pop, the local authorities are preoccupied for the local durable development, but also the conservation of the locality?s patrimony and identity.
?Our guests can visit the museum within the local school. All the
traditions were gathered by the tome ?Dragus, a Romanian village. The local folklore between tradition and innovation?, written by Viorica Pop. Another book collects the images of Dragus village, gathered by Codrina Sandru and Romulus Oprica.
There is also a movie called ?Dragus, 80 years after?, meant to promote the local traditions. All those images, substituting thousand words, speak about our
village?.
Folkloric Feast
Mid-November, all the inbabitants along with their guests, attended the projection of the movie ?Dragus, 80 years after?. The event was marked by a folkloric show performed by various folkloric bands and local artists.
Popular Artisans
In the last decades, the wool fleeces, the paintings and the icons created by the local artisans and artists participated at various exhibitions and fairs. One of the best known popular artisans is Dumitru Sofonea, who processes the lambskins according to a special procedure.
