The Juni?s Union from Șcheii Brașovului and Brașovechi managed to put Șchei and Brașovechi among the European cultural destinations of excellence (EDEN).
It is worth mentioning that it is the first time when a non-governmental organization managed to get such a certification for a tourist destination in an unequal competition with more than 30-40 destinations promoted and supported by Town Halls, County Councils and by the Evangelical Church of Transylvania.
The Juni?s heritage, promoted
For the European cultural destination of excellence statute, Juni?s Union had to suggest a cultural destination where tourists may benefit from interactive activities - cultural education, exhibits, workshops and activities aimed at promoting the cultural heritage of Brasov.
The proposed touristic attractions were the churches in the two neighbourhoods, the monumental houses of some royal families or of some personalities, the roadside crosses, Juni?s House, Juni?s Museum, the First Romanian School, the Blue Gallery of Artessentia Cultural Association.
The tourism offer, enriched
By this project, the cultural ? touristic offer of Brasov enriches with a new touristic destination, certified by the Ministry of Tourism and by the EU.
?The fight was unequal, especially due to the fact that Juni?s Union competed with tens of Town Halls and County Councils that had an army full of people and significant material resources. We have made it, nevertheless, and we are happy to have the opportunity to promote a priceless cultural, unique heritage, such as the one of the Juni. They are a part of the cultural legacy of Brasov and a reason for us to be proud?, told us Mr. Alexandru Stănescu, representative of Juni?s Union from Șcheii Brașovului and Brașovechi.
A dream come true
We would like to mention that this cultural offer of Brasov includes in the touristic circuit priceless historical attractions for the people of Brasov. For Juni?s Union from Șcheii Brașovului and Brașovechi and for all the people in these Romanian neighbourhoods, this project has an emotional value, as Junii think that, finally, the people of Schei were given justice and were appreciated at their true value, since Junii from Șcheii Brașovului, Brașovechi and Stupini are more than a city brand.
