Zanresti town, Brasov County, lies at the foothills of Piatra Craiului Mountains, in a location chosen by God, full of natural treasures, amazing landscapes provided by the calcareous laces of the mountain. The emerald green during the summer, and the silver white during the winter are the marvelous colours of this mountain relief. Up on the platform or on the god?s land, tourists can see the entire jewlery of nature, of an exceptional landscaping value. The mountain is an important area for practicing tourism and climbing.

?Zarnesti town is an important touristic mark on the map of Brasov County, and Piatra Craiului Mountains are a business card for hiking and mountain sports lovers. At Garofița Pietrei Craiului natural reservation grows a unique flower worldwide, but the symbol of the locality is the edelweiss or the Queen?s Flower, also called by shepherds ?Floare de Colţi? or just "Floare". In Romania, Queen?s Flower is protected by law ever since 1933. The flower still grows on the mountain peaks and carries with it the story of the Star, the prophet of Christmas, or the Nativity? said Mr Alexandru Lucian Igrișan, Mayor of Zarnesti town.
The bear reservation
In Zarnesti is the only bear reservation in Romania, considered the biggest brown bear reservation in Europe. Here, on a surface measuring 69 hectares, live almost 100 bears, who benefit from the best protective conditions and wellbeing of animals in Romania. The bears were rescued by means of a charitable project, were brought here from improper places, where they were kept captive in conditions hard to imagine. Last year, in this reservation, the first Museum of Stuffed Bears in Romania was opened, among which are also two giant bears offered by the British Royal Family.
Other attractions
Other touristic attractions are : the churches built by the people living in Zarnesti, the famous Cross of Brancoveanu, built in 1704, "Sf. Nicholas" Church downtown, built in 1515, and, under the mountain corner, the Monastery from Colțul Chiliilor, the oldest religious establishment attested in Zarnesti. These touristic objectives together with the tops, peaks, flanges, chines of the Piatra Craiului Mountains and the mountain routes are an incommensurable dower of the area worth knowing.
