The Days of the City, already a tradition in the city lying at the bottom of Tampa Hill, was organized this year in Brasov from May 9th to 12th, 2013. On this occasion, the organizers offered many entertaining moments where a wide range of local cultural activities were brought to light. Among them, we mention the parade of the Juni, the Craftsmen Fair, exhibitions and varnishing, theatre plays, folk and pop music concerts. A great number of tourists came to attend this festivity. There were more than 10 thousand people assisting to a long series of shows and performances catching both their eyes and souls.
Traditional and modern
The main attraction was Junii from Scheii Brasovului neighbourhood who marched mounted on adorned horses and dressed in costumes representative for the seven groups. They said in a loud voice: "Jesus resurrected!" and invited the audience to join them in their ride to the place called "Între Chietri" (Between rocks) in the middle of the nature. Once arrived here, the tourists made a round dance and raced in throwing the mace. The parades of the national costumes and those of Juni, the exhibitions, the brass bands concerts, the performance of the folk groups from the county and the modern artists` shows combined tradition with modernity.
The Craftsmen Fair
The Craftsmen Fair has an important place in the Days of Brasov event. Craftsmen from all over the country come and participate in this fair. They bring to Brasov specific items from the regions they come from and sell their pieces of work. The purpose of this fair is to promote old crafts and to present genuine traditional items to the urban audience. The talent and artistry of these craftsmen attract a lot of tourists, many of them preferring to take part interactively in the making of these products. A living museum was created by the variety and beauty of the artisans` objects.
The Crown City
The guests who came especially to the Days of Brasov were greeted by the Mayor of Brasov, Mr. George Scripcaru, who welcomed them to Brasov, one of the oldest and most important cities in Romania.
